In September 2018, a group of domain investors started a Discord server with a simple idea: the domain industry deserved a better place to talk shop. Forums were slow and cliquey. Twitter threads disappeared. Deals happened in DMs with people you'd never met.
Domaincord was built as an antidote — a fast, open, community-first space where anyone from a first-time buyer to a seasoned portfolio investor could participate on equal footing. Years later, that spirit still drives everything.
The Problem It Solved
The domain industry in 2018 was fragmented. NamePros had gatekeeping. Twitter was noise. There was no real-time, low-friction place where investors could share drop lists, get appraisals, or just talk shop with people who actually knew what they were doing.
Discord turned out to be the right medium — persistent channels, voice rooms, bots, and roles gave us the scaffolding to build something structured without feeling corporate.
